Coalmont Cabin Rentals on the Cumberland Plateau
Looking for a Coalmont cabin where you can actually hear the woods at night? The Getaway on Ranger Creek sits on 18 wooded acres in Coalmont, Tennessee, with three cabin rentals built for solo travelers, couples, and small families who want a real place to land between waterfall hikes and Caverns concerts. We hand-built four of the structures here ourselves, two creeks border the property, and the Greeter Falls trailhead is twelve minutes from the front gate.
This page is the short version of all three cabins, what each one’s like, and what’s within a half-hour drive once you’re here.

Why Pick a Coalmont Cabin?
Coalmont is a small town near the middle of the South Cumberland Plateau, an hour from Chattanooga and about an hour and forty-five minutes from Nashville. The plateau has more than 125 miles of trail, 15-plus waterfalls within a 30-minute drive, and a year-round 59-degree underground concert venue (The Caverns) that hosts headliners most weekends.
If you’ve been looking at Monteagle or Sewanee for a base, Coalmont is the quieter version of the same neighborhood. Fewer cars on the road, no through traffic from I-24, and the trailheads at Greeter Falls and Foster Falls are about the same distance either way. The Coalmont OHV Park, with 1,700 acres of city-owned off-road trails, is nineteen minutes from our gate, and we’ve got trailer parking for up to three rigs if that’s why you’re up here.
Our Cabins
All three Coalmont cabins sit on the same 18-acre property, with shared access to two creeks, the pond, and two free EV chargers (Level 1 always available, Level 2 by request; J1772 connector, both listed on PlugShare and Stay-N-Charge). Fire pits are private; each cabin has its own.
You’ll also meet the chickens and ducks, who free-range the whole property. They’re spoiled rotten on chicken feed, mosquitos, ticks, and any other bug they find in the grass. They’ll still appear at your fire pit asking for whatever you’re eating. Anything except bones is fine to share.
Scandinavian Cabin
The Scandinavian Cabin just finished a major 2026 refresh. We added a full bathroom with a large walk-in shower, rearranged the interior so it feels noticeably bigger, stained the exterior a soft blue-grey that pops against the surrounding green, and laid a new rock path lit by Edison string lights for the walk in after dark. Inside there’s a queen memory-foam bed, a new couch that folds out to a second bed, fresh lighting, a Keurig, a smart TV, and a dorm-sized fridge. For meals: a propane grill outside (propane on us), plus plates, utensils, pots, and pans inside (we handle the washing). Firewood for the fire pit is free. A strong pick for romantic couples and small families alike.
Cozy Spruce Cabin
The Cozy Spruce Cabin is the newest small-format unit in the lineup, deliberately cozy. The entire structure is built from Nordic spruce boards stacked like Lincoln Logs, stained burgundy-red on the outside to let the grain show through. Raw spruce on the inside. There’s a queen memory-foam bed, a full bath with a large shower, two small beanbag chairs tucked beside floor-to-ceiling windows, and a deep, soft chaise lounger built for two to cuddle into for the evening. The covered porch is generous: an outdoor couch, a propane fire table where flame rises through glass rocks at the center with a circular table built around it, and a two-person dining table. The porch faces west, so the woods between you and the horizon catch the sunset. Kitchen access is the same as the Scando: plates, utensils, pots, and pans, with washing on us. There’s a propane grill outside with free propane. Once the garden’s mature, the cabin will sit in a ring of wildflowers. This one only sleeps two; best for singles or couples.
Boho Cabin
The Boho Cabin is the largest of the three, sleeps four, with a three-level covered deck (850 square feet total when you add the cabin and decks together). Full kitchen inside plus an outdoor cooking setup, vaulted 10 to 12 foot ceilings, and the kind of space that works for a family or two couples traveling together. Bigger than the name suggests.
Not Looking for a Cabin?
Two more units round out the property: a Geodesic Glamping Dome and a Glamping Tent with Deck. Different feel from the cabins, but if you’re flexible on accommodation type, the South Cumberland Getaways page has the full lineup with everything side by side.
