It opened in 2026, sits tucked into the woods on the Cumberland Plateau, and looks out through floor-to-ceiling windows into the trees. The covered deck catches west-facing sunset light, the cabin is open year-round, and the whole place is cozy, a great choice for a quiet few days together.

What Makes the Cozy Spruce a Different Romantic Cabin Getaway
We both worked on most of the Cozy Spruce ourselves, and our daughter-in-law helped with the interior styling, including a super-cute bear cut-out wall art that gets tons of comments from guests. Nordic spruce walls, floor-to-ceiling windows with comfy beanbag chairs facing into the woods, a queen memory-foam bed angled toward the trees, and a 5.5-foot plush chaise for the second person to read on while the first one naps. Or vice versa.
At 255 square feet, the Cozy Spruce is sized for two people who actually want to be near each other for a weekend, not in opposite ends of a 1,500-square-foot rental. The mini-split keeps it comfortable in any season, which means the Cozy Spruce is open year-round when most romantic cabin getaway options on the plateau close for winter.
The Deck Is Where You’ll Spend Your Evenings
Most people book a cabin for the inside. With this one, you’ll spend half your stay outside. The covered deck is 205 square feet, faces west, and catches sunset light through the trees. There’s a round propane fire table that you can light without leaving your seat. No kindling, no smoke in your hair, no scramble to start a fire when the temperature drops at sunset.
The deck overlooks a different portion of the woods than the other units do. When you’re ready to stretch your legs, our maintained trail makes for a romantic walk together. It starts past the pond, where you’ll likely meet a few of our Muscovy ducks, then crosses a meadow and a little railroad tie bridge into a second meadow. A natural sitting area along the way is surrounded by thousands of ferns and pink lady slippers, a good spot to rest before the trail continues through the woods down to Ranger Creek. That second meadow doubles as the stargazing meadow at night, five minutes from the cabin.
Planning Your Romantic Getaway in Tennessee
A romantic getaway in Tennessee is more than the cabin itself. The Getaway sits in the middle of one of the most underrated areas of the South for couples who don’t want a manufactured experience.
For dinner, drive 36 minutes to Sewanee and eat at LUNCH, which recently received a Michelin Bib Gourmand designation. It’s the kind of place worth the drive on its own. Our Sewanee day trip guide covers the rest of what’s worth seeing in town, including the University of the South campus and the perimeter trail overlooks.
For a date-night experience you won’t get anywhere else, The Caverns concert venue is 30 minutes away. It’s a live music venue inside a real cave that stays 59 degrees year-round, named ACM Theater of the Year for 2025. Bring a jacket. Walking back to a warm cabin after a show inside a cave is one of those memories that sticks with you.
For daytime, the Greeter Falls trailhead is 12 minutes from the cabin, with a swimming hole at the bottom and a manageable loop trail. Foster Falls is 28 minutes, a 60-foot drop into a clear pool at the base of a sandstone bluff. Like all waterfalls on the Cumberland Plateau, flow varies with recent rainfall, so check conditions if waterfalls are the priority. If you’d rather not hike, the deck is right where you left it.
Of course weekends are great at The Getaway on Ranger Creek, but many couples book midweek for the lower rates and the quieter property. Here’s how a weekday glamping trip actually works in practice if your schedules allow it.
